A Business License is an annual tax for doing business within the city limits of the City of White House. The Municipal Code for the City of White House requires that a business license be obtained if you conduct business within city limits. This includes all business even if a store front business, providing a service, contracting and/or building or a in home business.  You can contact the Finance Department at:

You will need to obtain a business license from the City of White House and from the applicable county you are working in. The City of White House is in two counties:

West of Hwy 31W is Robertson County (615-384-4238)

East of Hwy 31W is Sumner County (615-452-1260)

After obtaining a business license from the applicable county or counties, complete the Printable Business License Application below. Print the application and submit it along with the $15.00 application fee for each business license. The fee can be paid in office, or a check can be mailed to 105D College Street. No online payments are accepted for business license. Other city departments and other entities may also have requirements/fees to start a business, i.e.—Planning & Codes, City of White House Utilities, Alcoholic Beverage Control, etc.

You will also need to contact the Tennessee Department of Revenue to fulfill state requirements such as sale tax, etc.  Your Business License Tax will need to be renewed every year with the Tennessee Department of Revenue (615-253-0600.)  You can also renew with TNTAP online.
