- Yes. Any licensed contractor by the State Contractor's Board must obtain a business license if conducting business in the City that will gross annual revenue over $50,000.
- The business license application are in the Finance department on the second floor of the Billy S. Hobbs Municipal Center located at 105D College St. White House, TN. The process begins and ends with the business tax clerk. The application fee is $15.

The City of White House does not offer animal control services, but below are some helpful number to call who do.
- Sumner County: Sumner County Animal Control (615) 452-2400
- Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency: Does not pick up animals.
- Tennessee Department of Transportation will pick up all animals on State- maintained highways only. In White House, this pertains to US Hwy 76, Hwy 31, and US Hwy 258. For Robertson or for Sumner County call (615 )451-5822.

- Bills can be paid via ACH draft, online, by mail, drop box, or in-person.
Obtain and complete an open records request form to the City Recorder's Office or online at whitehousetn.gov/records.
If you submit your request in person, you will need to attach a copy of your government issued ID with each request.

In order to re-establish service you will need to do the following
1. Pay past due balances
2. Fill out a copy of our application for service and submit it to the finance department. This must be filled out by current utility account holder
3. Pay deposit and application fees (these must be paid in person)
Once these items are completed, we will send out a service order to reconnect your services.
The City of White House Utility bill is comprised of the following monthly charges:
- Monthly Sewer Charges
- Base Charge: $20.21/residential unit ($44.20/non-residential unit),
- Plus consumption rate: $8.72 per 1,000 gallons of water used
- Monthly Refuse Collection (trash and recycling): $19.00 for each pair (trash/recycling) of containers
- Monthly Stormwater Fee: $8.99 per ERU (Equivalent Residential Unit.)

What do I need to sign up for or transfer City of White House Utility services (Sewer /Refuse/Stormwater)?
- Application – The City requires a completed application to be filed, which is available in our offices at 105 College Street or in the documents on this website.
- Government issued photo ID – The City requires a copy (to be filed with application) of the government issued photo ID for each person whose name will be on the account. Acceptable forms of this ID include:
- Driver’s License
- Passport
- Other Government Issued Photo ID
- Proof of Occupancy – The City requires at least one of the applicants to be named on a copy of one of the following documents (to be filed with application) to serve as proof of occupancy:
- Lease / Rental Agreement
- Purchasing Agreement / Closing Disclosure
- Deed for the property.
Once all three items are complete, they can be submitted at our offices, or email them to Finance@WhiteHouseTN.gov.
Fees for signing up or transferring service are as follows:
- Application Fee: $55.00 for new service, $30.00 for transfer of service
- Deposit: Amount based on a soft credit check. Up to $150.00 for residential, up to $250.00 for commercial.
Call the clerk’s office at 615-672-4350 ext. *2137 to explain your scheduling problem and the clerk will review your court date with you to resolve any scheduling issues.
If you do not wish to appear in court, you must pay the listed amount for your citation before or on your court date. Payment can be made in person, online at whitehousetn.gov or by mail. Only checks or money orders are accepted if mailing payment. Payment can be made in person at the clerk’s office which is open Monday thru Thursday, 7:15 am until 5:15 pm, except holidays. The clerk’s office is located at 105D College Street, White House, TN. Failure to pay your citation or attend court on your court date may result in the suspension of your driver license.
Call the clerk’s office at 615.672.4350 ext. *2137 and inform the clerk of your failure to appear and at that point you have two (2) choices:
- You can pay the cost of the citation online, in person or by mail
- Or request a new court date with the city clerk
Contact the clerk’s office at 615.672.4350 ext. *2137 to be advised how much is owed to pay your citation(s) and clear you license with the State. The only form of payment that is accepted once your license has been sent to the State is cash or a money order. You can pay in person at 105D College Street, White House, TN 37188 or mail payment to the same address.
If you wish to plead not guilty to your citation, you must contact the clerk’s office at 615-672-4350 ext. *2137 to schedule a not guilty court date. You will be assigned to a not guilty court date and the officer will be summons for the trial date.
- "Refuse" means trash, recycling, and brush pick up.
- A business license is an annual tax for doing business within the City limits of White House. White House Municipal Code requires that you obtain a license when you conduct any business activity with the City even if your business is located outside the City limits or you have a business license from another City.
Your payments for the previous billing period are located on your bill.
This amount is all payments made in the previous billing period.
If you made more than one payment in the previous billing period, this will not be the correct amount for the “last payment amount” needed to use the online payment portal.
If you have a new account on which you have never made a payment, your last payment amount will be the amount of your application fee (usually $55.00)

- The City must provide the information as soon as possible if readily available or fulfill the request within seven (7) business days. If the request will not be available within seven (7) business days, a timeline will be given.
- The Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination based on race, color, or national origin in programs or activities which receive federal financial assistance. It is the policy of the City of White House to ensure compliance with the Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; 49 CFR, Part 21; Related statues and regulations to the end that no person shall be excluded from participation in or denied benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance from the U.S. Department of Transportation on the grounds of race, color, sex, or national origin.
The City of White House does not control when Halloween trick-or-treating occurs in the City. As a general rule, families tend to "trick-or-treat" on October 31st from 5-9PM.

Your court date and time is listed at the bottom of your citation. If you have any questions concerning this date, please contact the clerk’s office at 615-672-4350 ext. *2137. Court is held in the Billy S. Hobbs Municipal Building located at 105D College Street, White House, TN.
- The due date for City of White House utility bill is always the third Wednesday of every month.

- Any person who's final sale is in the City of White House. This means if your address or location is within the City limits of White House.
- The most common reason the bill would change from month to month, is a change in water consumption. The more water a customer uses, the more the bill will be. See above charges for more information. For customers who want to compare the consumption on the City of White House (Sewer/Refuse/Stormwater) bill to the water usage on the White House Utility District (Water) bill, please make sure to compare the correct service period on each bill. The COWH bill is billed 2 months in arrears (1 month behind the WHUD bill).
- Typically previously paid past due balances only appear on new bills because the balance was paid after the previous month’s due date.
